Tour 5: Tracing Distances and Areas
Tracing a Path allows you to very accurately
measure the length of a road, river, trail feature
or measure an enclosed area.
1. Temporary Measurement:
Use the Bombsight Tool
Right-click the mouse and select ‘[Zero Traced
Distance]’) to reset the accumulated distance to
zero.
Now press and hold the Left Mouse button, while
dragging the cursor along the trail path. When you
reach the end of the trail release the Left Mouse
button. As you trace a path, a blue trail will be
left behind.
The float distance, as traced is 8.61134 Miles.
Press and hold the Alt key to subtract distance
from the total.
2. Permanent Draw Pencil Tool

Hold down right mouse button and trace the path
or area you want to measure.

When done release the mouse button and a "Display
Distance and Area menu will appear.

You can determine the attributes of
the pencil line by right clicking the mouse and
bringing up the following menu:
