Tour 9: Printing Maps
The bottom status line shows the resulting Map
Print Scale when you:
Zoom In
Zoom Out
Change printers
Resize the viewing window
The printed map scale has little to do with the
displayed map scale. Printouts always utilize the
full resolution of the map and your printer.
To interactively select a printer and printed map
scale, use the 'File: Setup Printer,
Map Scale...' menu selection:
The 'Set Printed Map Scale' screen will be
displayed:
Use the
button to choose the output device. Then select
the paper orientation:
Next select one of the 'Force Printed Map Scale'
buttons to adjust the printed map's scale.
Finally, press the Done button and move
the map on the display so that the printed map
contains the desired features.
To print the viewed portion of the map:
- First setup the printer: press 'Alt-F,S' and
select the proper printer and paper orientation.
- Move the map around on the screen to select
what portion is printed.
- Press 'Alt-F,V' to print the viewed map.
If annotations, 1,000 meter UTM gridlines, and
Map Name and Scale are enabled, then they will be
included on the printed map.
